I stopped using mascara and any makeup around my eyes. i use a bit of eye shadow near my eyebrows. i wash my eye area at night with baby shampoo, and pat it dry. then i use my eyedrops. in the morning i just rinse my eyes before using the eyedrops, and use non-prescription dry eye drops during the day. since the area below my eyes also gets red, i use a prescription steroid ointment there for a few days, then use aquaphor for several days. It's important that eye solutions be ph-balanced and isotonic, which means they must be of equal "tension" or concentration as the fluid in your eye. a hyper- or hypotonic solution, when put in your eyes, can change the concentration of the fluids that protect your eyes (tears, meibomian duct secretions) and damage your eye.I don't think drinking a lot of water will make any difference.
